Solar panels generate energy when the sun shines. However, this moment does not always coincide with when your organization most needs that energy or when injecting it into the grid is financially beneficial. Smart control allows for better alignment of solar panel production with your energy consumption, energy tariffs, and available grid capacity.
Within the renewed PV framework agreements from veb, you can not only choose how to finance and operate a PV installation but also how to have your installation, possibly combined with battery storage, smartly controlled.
Control options are offered, including curtailment to temporarily limit solar panel production when it is economically or technically more advantageous, such as avoiding injection during periods of very low or even negative electricity prices. Peak shaving helps limit peaks in electricity consumption, avoiding unnecessarily high power costs and optimizing your energy bill. Energy trading allows the installation to consume, store, or inject energy based on market signals for financial benefit. Load balancing optimally distributes available energy across various consumers, such as buildings, charging stations, or batteries, leading to more efficient capacity utilization and better coordination of different energy needs.
These control options are available for new PV installations placed through the renewed PV framework agreements. Existing installations can also utilize these applications by adding a battery. For organizations lacking the necessary investment budget, options are available. Through our PV framework agreement with a power purchase agreement, you can leverage third-party financing while simultaneously implementing smart control.
More information about the renewed PV framework agreements can be found in a previous blog article on veb.be. You can also submit a non-binding request for one of our framework agreements.
