The Car Cost Calculator (CCC) is an online tool that helps Brussels residents compare the total cost of ownership (TCO) of an electric vehicle, new or used, with that of a combustion engine vehicle or car-sharing. The tool lists all available electric models to help identify the most suitable solution.
The objective of the CCC is to help Brussels residents make an informed choice among different low-emission mobility solutions: electric vehicles, shared cars, or second-hand electric vehicles.
The calculator has recently been updated with the addition of 24 new electric vehicle models. Charging tariffs and fuel prices are updated quarterly, and fiscal changes are integrated as they come into effect. These updates ensure a more reliable comparison between different vehicle types and help anticipate mobility costs throughout the usage period.
The total cost of ownership (TCO) includes not only the purchase price but also the expenses incurred during its entire period of use: fuel or electricity, maintenance, insurance, fiscality, and taxes. While the initial purchase price of an electric vehicle is often higher, some running costs may be lower in the long term.
