To stimulate innovation in the rapidly growing floating offshore wind sector, the i3FLOAT project has launched its first open call. This call targets SMEs developing innovative technologies and solutions with potential for this sector. Developments from the offshore wind industry itself, as well as innovations from other sectors that can contribute to the growth of floating offshore wind, are eligible.
The call focuses on technologies and solutions addressing specific challenges within the floating offshore wind value chain. This includes inspection, monitoring, and maintenance of floating wind turbines and offshore infrastructure; stronger and more efficient mooring and anchoring systems; assembly, transport, and installation of floating wind turbines; and digital technologies that improve performance, reliability, and decision-making. Solutions supporting the combination with other offshore activities are also welcome.
A total of € 2.52 million is available for this first call. Selected projects can receive financial support of up to € 60,000 per participating SME. The call is open to projects with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) between TRL 6 and TRL 8. In addition to funding, participants gain access to a European network of companies, knowledge institutions, and organizations active in the floating offshore wind sector.
More information on the conditions, challenges, selection procedure, and proposal submission can be found on the i3FLOAT website. For questions or to discuss opportunities, contact Michael Murphy at michael.murphy@blauwecluster.be.
The i3FLOAT project brings together 24 partners from eight European regions with the aim of strengthening the European value chain for floating offshore wind. Through open calls, support for enterprises, and collaboration between regions, the project seeks to accelerate the development and market introduction of innovative solutions.
