On Monday, October 26, 2026, a job and training fair will be held at the COREtec Dôme in Ostend, organized by VDAB, the Economisch Huis Oostende, and BC Oostende.

Between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, job seekers will have the opportunity to directly connect with around 50 employers from the region. Visitors can discover vacancies and apply immediately.
This fair is part of a broader effort to support the labor market in West Flanders. Previously, Alstom Bruges, Voka - Chamber of Commerce West Flanders, Agoria, and VDAB, along with partners, organized a job fair to help Alstom Bruges employees find new work after a reorganization.
Recent reports from VDAB indicate that the labor market in West Flanders continues to offer opportunities for school leavers, with only 6.5% unemployed after one year. However, finding hospitality staff, such as bartenders, remains a bottleneck.
VDAB's labor market flashes provide an overview of unemployment and vacancy trends. In May 2026, for example, 45,735 vacancies were reported, an 8.8% decrease compared to the previous twelve-month period. In April 2026, there were 34,266 job seekers registered in West Flanders.
VDAB West Flanders was recently recognized by the Red Cross Flanders as 'Company with the Biggest Heart' for motivating employees to donate blood and plasma.
