Research at Howest explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, with two tracks focusing on individual student guidance and the implementation of AI applications.

The research project EdHubAI at Howest focuses on two key areas within Artificial Intelligence (AI): interpreting educational results for personalized student guidance and exploring relevant AI applications for the education sector.
The first track investigates AI's capabilities to assist students and teachers in interpreting study results through a learning dashboard (Naviskore). The aim is to identify outliers and perform data analyses that can predict future success rates. This enables schools and teachers to provide better individualized student support, adapt their differentiation policies, and offer targeted remediation.
The second track examines the potential applications of AI in secondary and primary education. This includes implementing existing tools like ChatGPT 4 and Dall-E, as well as developing new AI applications for teaching computational thinking and writing skills. The emphasis is on training teachers to adapt their teaching methods, rather than embedding AI directly into lesson materials.
Both research tracks will also initiate an exploration of the ethical implications of AI in educational systems. Furthermore, the findings will be validated within the educational field.
